Our Taza Hot Chocolate Recipe

Our Hot Chocolate Recipe using Taza Chocolate Discs

Dearest friends!

Here is our tried and true recipe for making wonderful hot chocolate with Taza chocolate discs. The whole process takes less than 20 minutes.

Preparation:

Step 1. Measure out 2 cups of milk. Almond milk also works!

Step 2. Measure out 3 Tablespoons or 39g of sugar. This'll be used later to give it a Swiss-Miss-style sweetness. Adjust up or down based on how sweet you want it.

Step 3. Cut the chocolate disc on the lines so it melts easier.

Making the hot chocolate:

Step 4. Heat the milk in a small saucepan to about 100 degrees on medium heat and once it hits that, immediately remove from heat. If you don't have a thermometer, 100 degrees is about the point where water no longer feels cool to touch, and just feels nice.

Step 5. Add the chocolate and a pinch of salt.

Step 6. Immediately start stirring with a whisk or metal fork until the big clumps of chocolate are gone.

Step 7. Put the heat back on. Set it to juuuuust above low, put the saucepan back on, and continue to stir with the whisk, getting it nice and frothy.

Step 8. If you don't have a thermometer, dip your finger in quickly every 60 seconds until you are too scared to continue doing that anymore. That's the point where you've hit 136 degrees, so stir in the sugar.

Step 9. At this point it's good to drink immediately, or you can continue to raise the heat slowly until it's right for you.

Step 10. Using a strainer and pour the hot chocolate into mugs (large, 16 oz mugs shown here)

Step 11. Add a stroopwafel to the top of your mug to get it warm and melty (we provided a little device so it sits properly!), or dunk it in. The tie wrap on the bag indicates the flavor. Red = Chocolate. Green = Maple. Gold = Honey. Silver = Regular Caramel.

Step 12. Enjoy!
